Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management, a part of Nitte Education Trust was established in 1998 and named after Late Justice K S Hegde, former Justice of the Supreme Court of India and the former speaker of the Lok Sabha. The Trust manages a multitude of education institutions. Offering graduate programs in disciplines like Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering and Management. The institute offers two-year full time MBA program recognized by AICTE and the Government of Karnataka and is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, the Central Technological University of the State of Karnataka. The Institute is also recognized as a center of guiding research leading to the award of Ph.D. The Institute is among the very few B-schools in the country to be AICTE-NBA accredited. Its education delivery system is certified to ISO 9001:2000 standards by KEMA, Netherlands. With an intention of providing global exposure to the students, the Institute also has tie ups with the University of Pennsylvania, USA and Makerere University Business School, Uganda. In order to carry the benefit of the management education beyond the portals of the Institute, the Center for Executive Development offers regular EDPs and other extension programs on request from corporate, academic and non-profit sectors. Consultancy services are offered by the Institute to these sectors as well. Based on its performance in the field of academics, consultancy and research activity, the institute has been recognized as A++ Level B School as per the Business India BSchool Survey of 2011
